"Watching painted leather puppets dance to life behind a glowing screen — a story tradition passed down for five centuries."
Chitrakathi is a centuries-old tribal art of storytelling through painted pictures and puppets, performed behind a lit screen so the figures appear as moving shadows. It's one of India's oldest surviving forms of visual storytelling — and your guests get to experience it live, not in a museum, but as part of the celebration.
Our artists travel all the way from Pinguli to perform at your party — a 30-minute act in which two stories from the Panchatantra unfold through shadow and narration, the same way this art form has been passed down for generations.
Presented by the family of Parshuram Gangaram Gangavane, who was honoured with the Padma Shri — one of India's highest civilian awards — by the Government of India in 2011, for keeping the Chitrakathi tradition alive. Your party gets a performance from the very family credited with preserving this art form.
